Welcome to our new Priests!


Fr. Jim is a native of Knoxville, TN and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After earning his undergraduate degree he earned a doctoral degree in Dentistry and was a practicing dentist prior to his call to the priesthood. He attended Conception Seminary in Missouri and Mundelein Seminary in Chicago and was ordained to the priesthood in 1999 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Knoxville. Since his ordination he has served the Diocese of Knoxville as an Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, as pastor at both St. Bridget Parish in Dayton and St. Mary Parish in Athens, as a member of the Board of Catholic Charities, and as the Coordinator of the Chattanooga Deanery Office of Hispanic Ministry. He will continue in that capacity with the Hispanic Ministry Office as he becomes the 9th pastor in the 72 year history of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.


My name is Fr. Augustine Idra, AJ. I was born on august 16, 1966 at the border of Uganda. I was partly raised in Uganda and partly in the Sudan, my country of origin. I did my college seminary in Nairobi, Kenya from 1988-1997 until my ordination to the priesthood. I worked in Nebbi Diocese in Uganda for six years before coming to the United States. I have been in the diocese of Knoxville for six years. During this six years I have served as Associate pastor at St. Jude in Chattanooga and All Saints in Knoxville.
